Young Kim Announces Bid for California’s 39th Congressional District with Endorsement of House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy

Young Kim launches campaign with early endorsements from McCarthy, former Rep. Ed Royce, and the majority of California Republican congressional delegation

Fullerton, California– Today, Young Kim formally launched her campaign to run for California’s 39th Congressional district with the support of House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, former U.S. Representative Ed Royce, and the majority of the California Republican congressional delegation. Kim, who narrowly lost her 2018 congressional bid in one of the tightest, most watched races in the country, will seek a rematch with Democrat Gil Cisneros.

“Young Kim is an outstanding public servant who has dedicated her life to helping the people of the 39th district,” said House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy. “As a member of Congress, Young will be a tough and effective leader who will be a strong, dedicated advocate for her constituents in Washington, D.C.”

“Young Kim is a fierce campaigner and one of the top recruits in the country for House Republicans. I’m 100% supporting her candidacy,” concluded Leader McCarthy.

“Young Kim is a proven and effective community leader who will always fight for what is right. I have seen her fight for the constituents of this district for two decades, and no one works harder,” added former U.S. Representative Ed Royce.

“I have lived and worked in this district for decades and I personally know the needs and issues of these communities,” said Young Kim, a former California State Assemblywoman. “The residents of the 39th district deserve a responsive, service-oriented representative who will be honest with them and that’s why I’m running for Congress.”

Kim is also endorsed by U.S. Representatives Ken Calvert, Devin Nunes, Doug LaMalfa, Paul Cook, and Tom McClintock.

An immigrant to the United States, Young Kim’s unique perspective on the American Dream has led her to devote almost her entire adult life to public service. Beginning her career as a small business owner and financial analyst, she started her career in public service over 25 years ago in Ed Royce’s office, eventually becoming his Director of Community Operations.

Kim was elected to the 65th District of the California State Assembly in 2014. Despite long odds, Young Kim unseated an incumbent Democrat to become the first ever Korean-American Republican woman elected to serve in the State Assembly. Dedicated to community involvement, Young Kim founded and continues to serve on the Board of Directors for numerous local non-profit organizations.

Young and her husband Charles are the proud parents of four grown children.
